CST 3033 Adjustable Duplex Kit

It is essential, when fitting a duplex cam drive kit to an engine fitted with a simplex cam drive kit, to replace the 7/16”AF bolts sited behind the crank gear. These clamp the front plate to the main cap. Left in place the duplex chain will run against the bolt heads. Two 1/4” UNF countersunk headed hex-drive screws are supplied to replace them.

The front plate needs countersinking around the two holes. This can be done with a suitably sized drill bit if no countersink is to hand.

The timing chain cover also needs checking for fit as a number of the later types with the oil/air separator cannister fitted, and those fitted to A+ engines with tensioner-equipped simplex drive set-ups have metal protruding in to the inside of the cover. The splash ring welded to the cover around the breather cannister port needs cutting right down, or removing. Removing altogether is a tricky process as drilling or grinding through the spot welds may lead to puncturing the cover. Cutting down then grinding off tends to be best way.

Inside A+ covers there is also an indent in the cover adjacent to the small service tool bracket fitted to the cover that protrudes in to the inside of the cover where the chain runs on the crank gear. This needs knocking outwards - a simple job with punch and hammer.
